Free Your Self From Fate Tarot is for those brave souls who want to get to  the *root of their problems.  This is the domain of the Shadow which is a Jungian coined term.  The Shadow refers to those repressed parts of our Selves that wreak havoc when we deny them.  The shadow does not like to denied and when it is denied, it behaves like a naughty child seeking attention.  The negative attention that it receives does not help us until we pay it the proper attention that it deserves.  The shadow is like a secret wound hidden underneath layers of clothing.  When we are psychically/*psychologically ready and we examine it, it  releases tremendous energy that frees us to live make a choice that is in our best interest.  We are freed from the prison that we unwittingly created out of our ignorance and fear to become our authentic selves.  In simpler terms, the superficial lives that we have created in order to "fit in" can be reinvented into something new.  We become reinvigorated because we are living the lives that we want and not the lives that our parents, society, friends etc. want for us.  These wounds that we received from birth and from years of stress can be brought to the LIGHT so that all of that *repressed energy can be harnessed in positive ways.  Our lives are transformed into something beautiful, meaningful, and *purposeful.  If we take the shadow out of the closet, it will talk to us and tell us the root causes of our dis-eases.  Yes, the work is painful but it's worth it  because of the liberation that we experience.  We are no longer slaves to the past!

 

The shadow belongs to the 8th House in Astrology which is the realm of taboo.  The taboo deals with the darker side of our nature like secrets (childhood sexual abuse), sex (what we were taught about it), death, *rebirth, and money.  Once we deal with these issues the wounds become blessings for us.  The 8th house is ruled by Scorpio which rules the private parts and its motto is "I create."  We have only to look at what we've created to see what material needs to be brought to the surface for healing.  The 2 ruling planets of Scorpio are Mars and Pluto.  Pluto deals with issues beyond our control like our families of origin, our race, sexual identity etc.  Pluto is the King of Hell and the Lord of Wealth.  Mars is the warrior and sex planet that gives us the stamina to go the distance and to create healthy spiritual and sexual lives that are satisfying.  Pluto gives us the power we need to transform what we see and to eliminate what is no longer necessary for us.

An important part of shadow work is forgiveness.  The type of forgiveness that I am advocating is not the hypocritical forgiveness taught in most religious organizations.  Forgiveness is how we heal because when we hold on to rage, it simply destroys us and not the people who hurt us.  Forgiveness is a selfish act for those who have been selfless.  When we forgive, we grieve the rage, pain, hurt, and sadness that has been lodged in our hearts.  As we release this negative energy and discharge it in a safe way, we get back to the Source of all life.  There is a clear channel to the Divine however we perceive it.  Over time as we persevere, the pain lessens and we learn new ways of coping that allow us to enjoy the time that we have left on this planet.  We are no longer zombies but actualized people who can fulfill our destinies.  It is as the Good Book counsels "from the heart pours forth all the issues of life."  The inner sun then shines for the seeker who can then bring forth the lotus blossom of their *crown chakra in their own time and in their own unique way.  It is important to remember that this process cannot be rushed.

 

In order for the lotus flower to bloom, it must be grounded in the mud.  That idea may strike one as being "unspiritual."  "What does this beautiful flower have to do with the mud?" you may ask.  "Shouldn't it be floating in the sky where it can be admired from a distance?" you may ponder.  The first spiritual truth is that the lotus must be grounded in the mud.  It is the mud that provides sustenance and nourishment to the plant so that it can blossom.  Therefore, the reality is that we must all be grounded in our personal realities - our past and current realities, our bodies, our financial situations, values and so forth.  Also, we must get in contact with our divine natures and Mother Nature who has ALL the answers!  As we ground, we realize that no matter how troubling our problems may be that there is always a positive way to work through them and to transcend them.
